Revision Tips
  • Try and keep up with the work from the start and make some revision notes. It’s going to help you to understand what you’re revising from the start, rather than trying to learn the subject at the last minute.
  • Make a REALISTIC revision plan. You’ve got to allow time for breaks and any other plans you have. A good idea is to revise for 50 minutes and then give yourself a 10 minute break.
  • Sit down somewhere quiet, get all your work in front of you and get your mind into the subject you’re revising.
  • Have a look at past exam papers so that you can make MEANINGFUL revision notes and this will help you to see the kind of questions you may be asked.
  • Revise sections of the subject so you can focus on one aspect at a time thoroughly. Summarise your notes into a way that you will understand them.
  • When you have a good understanding of each section you can them tie them all in together.
  • If you don’t understand any aspect however much you try, talk to friends on your course or speak to your lecturer or tutor.
  • Try and vary your revision material, e.g. find journals on the net or draw up spider diagrams. By brainstorming the subject you will really get your head around some of the more complicated aspects.
  • Re-write and condense your summary student revision notes further.
  • Test yourself. It’s important to see what you can’t remember rather than what you can remember. Use past papers for this.
  • Be positive. You’ve done the work, anticipated questions by looking at past papers and have a good understanding of the subject.
