Personal Issues

Extenuating Circumstances is a phrase which refers to any exceptional and serious factors outside of your control which have had an adverse effect on your performance within your degree at university.

This may include factors such as illness and family bereavement which have caused you to miss deadlines or examinations. This means that there has been a change in your circumstance since the start of the course which has resulted in diminished performance.

If you have been subject to extenuating circumstances at university you need to get in contact with your University as soon a possible in order to explain the situation; and see what the University can do regarding your diminished performance so that your degree doesn’t suffer.
