Internships

Internships allow students to work in companies during their summer breaks or after university. An intern is essentially a person who works in a temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employment, which makes it similar to an apprenticeship. Internships are often paid, but can also be unpaid which means you may not earn anything while you’re an intern. The benefits are that it will look great on your CV and can help you to get into the organisation you want to work with after university. Sometimes you need that foot in the door, and internships allow you to do this.

Check out the website of the company you’re looking to work for and find out if they offer an internship opportunities - it’s best to apply early as thousands of students across the UK apply each year.
