Testicular Cancer:

Testicular cancer is most common in the 20-39 age group. If found early it is almost always curable, which makes early detection vital. The best time to check your testes is in the bath or shower when the scrotum muscles are most relaxed. To examine the testes:

* Hold your scrotum in your hands and feel the size and weight of each testicle. Don’t worry if one testicle is larger or hangs lower than the other, this is common.
* In turn, feel each testicle and roll it between your thumb and your finger gently. It should feel smooth and you’ll feel a smooth tube towards the back of each testicle.

Testicular cancer usually only appears in one testicle. You should look for:

* A hard lump on the side or front of a testicle.
* Any unusual difference between the testes.
* Any swelling or enlargement of a testicle.
* Any pain or discomfort either in the scrotum or testes.
* A heavy or dragging feeling in the scrotum.
* A dull ache in the scrotum, groin or stomach.

If you notice any differences consult your doctor immediately. Early detection is very successful in the treatment of testicular cancer.
