Why Am I at Uni

So why are you at uni?

Sounds simple but sometimes you’ve got to ask yourself this question to make things a little clearer and give yourself some motivation.

Some students are solely at university for a good time, therefore if this is you then you’re likely to feel that the degree you come out with is partly irrelevant.

The majority of students however are at uni to have an awesome time, but also to come out with a strong degree which can help to set them up for life. It’s a bloody competitive world out there and you have to stand out from the crowd. With more and more people in the UK going to uni it’s essential you come out with the best degree possible. The main trick is to balance work time with play time - if you strike this balance you’ll come out with a decent degree and have no regrets because you’ve partied along the way.

The cost of university is now over £8,000 a year - a hell of a lot of money if you just want to party. Basically you’re investing £25,000 (over 3 years) in your future by going to university - it sounds like a lot of money and can sometimes get you down but in the longer term it will pay off. This is because you’re likely to get a higher paid job than if you didn’t have a degree. It’s a huge stepping stone for you - the biggest step to what you’ll be doing for the rest of your life.

What have you just studied the last 14 years of your life for? University - no other reason apart from progressing further by getting decent A Level grades so you can go into higher education. Sometimes it’s worth thinking about this so that you don’t fall at the last hurdle - stay motivated until the end - 3 years is nothing when you compare it to your schooling from the age of 5.
